After analyzing the data from our first round of closed Caspian Border tests, we have great news for participants in the Battlefield 3 PC Open Beta: the DICE team has decided to bring back Caspian Border for the beta's final weekend and conduct an open large scale test of the 64 player Caspian Border map.
*****Please keep in mind that as this is beta we will be stress testing our servers***** As such, users may experience crashes, network instability and outages as we roll out and configure servers and network utilities. Understand that such potential issues and the testing environment are not reflective or indicative of the final product and that, through your participation, you will be helping to ensure future stability and functionality.
As we are again specifically testing 64-player server configurations, this test will be for PC only. The Caspian Border servers will be available for all PC players to join. Caspian Border will be available starting Friday, October 7th, in the afternoon (CET).

de beta is dus alleen om de servers te testen. bugs zullen ze al die tijd al aan werken en zullen ze ook wel aan blijven werken als ie dalijk uit is...zo gaat t altijd met software.

Sinds de release van de open bèta voor Battlefield 3 afgelopen week, krijgt DICE, ontwikkelaar van de game, veel klachten van gamers dat de game vol met bugs zit. Volgens Patrick Liu van DICE is het voor sommige gamers moeilijk te begrijpen wat de term 'bèta' precies inhoudt.
Volgens Liu hebben ze een oude build van de code gepakt en gebruiken ze deze voor de bèta. Ze willen hiermee een vergelijkbare test houden als met eerdere tests die ze hebben gedaan. Het doel van de bèta is het testen van de servers en willen ze problemen de ze hadden met Battlefield 1943 en Battlefield Bad Company 2 op deze manier voorkomen.
“It was horrible with Battlefield 1943 – it sold ten times the numbers we thought it would, and it was down for three or four days which is really bad. We don’t want to go through that again.”
Liu begrijpt dat sommige gamers bezorgt zijn over de build die ze nu aan het spelen zijn maar wil verzekeren dat het uiteindelijke product een stuk beter is. Battlefield 3 verschijnt eind deze maand op de pc, PlayStation 3 en Xbox 360. De bèta is voor alle drie de platformen op dit moment te downloaden.
